Shadow People are small laughing beings that dwell in the boundary between light and shadow. They are mischievous but not spiteful; they whisper stories to you while you sleep; they listen to you dream. Their chief love is to hear and tell stories. The sound of their voices is like the ringing of many small bells.Whenever you stop suddenly - wondering if you’ve just heard someone calling you or a knock at the door or other faint sound - it’s most likely the laughter of the Shadow Clan. Have you ever stopped while walking a familiar route - suddenly not remembering how you got there? The Shadow Clan have been playing one of their tricks. How about when you catch movement out of the corner of your eye - only to turn around and see nothing; yes, it’s them . . . Those of us with ringing in the ears have been treated to a Shadow Clan sing along.

One of their favorite pastimes is fishing - but not the way you and I think - they use thin transparent strings; you’ve seen them, everyone has - they pass in front of your eyes in different shapes and sizes - we call them floaters. Anyone who’s tried to follow a floater knows it moves as you try to focus on it - the Shadow People love this trick.

Some have asked how big they are. They’re very small - they’ve been mistaken for hummingbirds. You can sometimes see them as eventide draws near in lengthening shadows when the smell of evergreen is in the air. They’re distant cousins of the gremlins but smaller - they’re more closely related to the sprites and the pixies.

What are they’re names, you ask? Oh, there’s Roal and Ing and Pict and Ver and Tra and baby eet.

If you’ve a moment, then, hear their stories …
